Brian's next opponent Javiel Maciel claims to be training hard in Las Vegas ahead of their World Title Eliminator in Sheffield on October 26th.
Highly motivated and with the objective of making the best preparation of his career, Argentinean and World Boxing Organization (WBO) Latino junior middleweight champion, former world title challenger Javier “La Bestia” Maciel, is training intensely in Las Vegas, for his highly anticipated challenge against Englishman Brian “The Lion” Rose, in a WBO junior middleweight title eliminator, that will take place on October 26th. at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, England.
After finishing, in five rounds, his countryman Alejandro Falliga, to defend his Latino belt for the fifth time on September 7th. at the Luna Park Stadium in Buenos Aires, Maciel (27-2, 20 KOs), ranked WBO junior middleweight #5, and International Boxing Federation (IBF) #7, practically without rest went back to the gym for his fight against Rose (24-1-1, 7 KOs), current WBO intercontinental junior middleweight champion, ranked WBO junior middleweight #4 and World Boxing Council (WBC) #16. And after training at home, on Wednesday afternoon he arrived at Las Vegas to prepare himself with well known trainer Miguel Diaz, and to spar with hard first-class sparrings, to get in his best shape ever for October 26th.
Without wasting time, who was named Latino Boxer of the Year by the WBO started his training at Top Rank's gym, where on Thursday he had as his sparring former world title challenger, American Mike Jones.
"Everything is going very well. We already had a whole day of training and it´s very tough. With Miguel I am learning some details and improving lots of others. This is exactly what I need. Sparrings here are much more intense and of higher level than the ones we can get in Argentina, so this is really helping me a lot", said 29-year-old Maciel, who finished eight of his last nine victims in less than five rounds.
"Being here allows me to focalize in lots of very important aspects which at home you can't. Although I always train very strongly, the rhythm and style here are very different, and it makes me give much more of me, to get out everything I have inside, which is what I need for the bout against Rose", added who will have his second presentation abroad, after his frustrated fight against Armenian-born American Vanes Martirosyan, in a highly world ranked junior middleweight bout, which was scheduled for April 6th. in Macau, China, but was cancelled due to an injury in his opponent.
After a complete day of hard work, “The Beast”, who after making the distance against WBO middleweight world champion Dmitry Pirog in Russia, on March 2011, went down to the 154 pounds -his real division- where he has nine victories in a row, left the gym with around 163 pounds, and everything according to the plans. Although he is calmed, he already imagines his bout in England.
"The fight with Falliga helped me not only to stay active, but also to face someone who came forward to me, and not just went back on his guard. And being here allows me to work more on continuity and intensity", explained who will stay in Las Vegas until October 20th., when he will travel to Sheffield, together with Diaz, where he will join his manager and promoter, Mario Margossian, head of Argentina Boxing Promotions.
And he continued: "I have been watching a lot of Rose. Due to each other's style, it will be a good fight. He comes forward, solidly, maybe not as fast as Falliga, but he comes forward and looks for the fight, always with a high and close guard. I go forward as well, so it will be a toe to toe fight. It's going to be a nice one. But I have to go out there and win from the beginning, and impose my presence wisely".
Although his opponent has faced strong rivals, and has knocked out former world champions such as Vivian Harris and Joachim Alcine, together with the fact of fighting at his own backyard, Maciel has no fear. "I know he has faced important boxers. Even though I pay attention to the names he has defeated, I concentrate on the way he fights, and on my own preparation. He is a good fighter, but I see myself stronger than him. I am preparing very well y and hope you can all see it in the ring", he considered.
"I am training really hard, harder than ever. I am going to go out there to win, to take the fight to the strategy that most suits me, and I trust it will be that way. I am going to win the fight", he concluded.
